Hey everyone! It's hard to believe
that this is my third week over on the
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
This weeks theme is "A Day At The Beach!" Is it just me, or has this month's challenges been the most fun! I have not only challenged myself with these themes, but I have also taken it a step further and challenged myself with making them all have "tropical vibes!" I wanted to be able to take you on an adventure to a tropical island where you could leave all your worries behind! I hope I've served you well so far! So without further ado....
Kowabunga Dudes!
It's time to hang loose and catch some gnarly waves my friends! And this Simon Says Stamp "Lil Gnome" is just the little dude to show you how it's done! So grab your flip flops and follow me...
I've had this Tim Holtz Curio Box for quite some time and I couldn't wait to use it for this challenge! Having never made a Curio Box, I had no idea what I was going to fill it with. I mean that's the object here right... to fill it to the top with things you love, things that inspire you, things that make your heart swim.
So I have a confession, I only used half of the box because I wanted to do something a little bit different with the background and really didn't want a box. So I glued it to a page in the Tim Holtz Paper Stash "Lost and Found." Have you had a chance to see this beautiful paper collection! Here's a look a two of my favorites:
I hand made a frame and didn't really worry about how it looked because I knew it was going to get covered up with love and inspiration right?!!
The Burlap shredding was almost better than the thoughts I had of filling the entire box up with coconuts and having the lil gnome swinging from the tree with a Piña Colada in hand! (That will be a story for another day!)
Yes! You just start pulling the strings until it frays as much as you want! Sooooo satisfying! And the little bird in the back is a sneak peek at something else I'm working on!
The Lawn Fawn "Oliver's Stitched ABC's" can be described in one word...AMAZING!
I literally cut a gazillion out and threw them in a bag for more makes!
And I really, really, wanted to use the word Kowabunga but holy Kow....that's a long word! Who would have thought?! Lol! "Surfs Up" is muuuuch shorter dudes!
Those pretty little flowers and botanicals came from the Tim Holtz "Garden Greens" and the "Funky Florals 3".
How cute is that little dude just chillin' in my Curio Box! I do have to tell you that I handmade the surfboard... no big deal! I just cut it out of cardstock, drew a line down the middle and cut another surfboard out of black to cast a shadow behind it! No worries. You can do it! I also made the ribbon that this hangs from. No big deal again...it's just origami! Might be a little harder than the surfboard but I promise, it's still easy!
Well, that's it my friends! I hope I've inspired you to leave your world for a little bit and get lost in your imagination. Every creation has a story. What's yours going to be? Stay well, & be kind to one another! I'll see you next week with another exciting challenge!
Creatively Yours,
Sheila
