Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be back again for another week of fun on the
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
In keeping with the "Early Birds" theme for this weeks challenge, I've found a cute little pattern and yet another cross stitch die from My Favorite Things that I could not wait to share with you!
Speaking of pink flamingos, just look at her! After cross stitching, I decided that she could use a bit more bling so I outlined her in gold metallic thread! She absolutely glistens! If you are wondering how I was able to cut the pattern for the cross stitching directly from a page out of the Dina Wakley "Media Collage Collective Book" here's the story....
The My Favorite Things "Cross Stitch Tag Die-Namics" has this nifty little feature that I love. Ready for this one?! The "cross stitch" part acts like an "insert." So you can leave the "insert" inside the tag die frame and make an awesome little tag, or you can just use the cross stitch part to add a cross stitch pattern anywhere on your cardstock! How amazing is that? This is why I know you're going to love this die!
And the patterns.....ahhh no worries, you can find them all over the internet! This one happens to be from My Favorite Things!
So with the island breeze at our backs we will head on over to those gorgeous little flowers! I have had this die set from Tim Holtz for so long now and have used it for so many things! From quirky winter flowers to spring blossoms and now part of a tropical card! The die is called "Tiny Tattered Florals" and it is a Quilling die! Paper Quilling or Paper Filligree, as some may call it, is such a gorgeous art! You basically cut paper strips and roll them! It's that easy, I swear! Here's some pictures of this process. I lost my quilling tool so I had to improvise with a paint brush...
Look at those beautiful blooms! I used Pretty Pink Posh "Spring Flowers Mix" Sequins for the middles to add a little bling! And the great thing about these flowers is that they don't have to be perfect to look awesome; the more "tattered" they are; the better!
And the leaves are also a part of the set and just just curled them a bit to look natural...
These were also cut out of a green mixed media page I found in Dina Wakley's "Media Collage Collective Book". Again, I have enjoyed this book so much that I feel compelled to share some of my favorite pages...
If you were wondering about the "hula skirt" material around the card...it's raffia and yes, I did cut and hot glue all those pieces around the card! Lol, it's not pretty but hey, it's the back of the card so hot glue strings and all...no worries!
No worries because the end result is so worth it!!!!
And with that, I'm going to bid you farewell and head back to 216 Alchemy Lane to get started on some inspiration for next weeks challenge! By all means, stay awhile, enjoy the sun and when the ocean breeze pushes back here, I'll have another tropical paradise waiting for you! Take care, safe journeys, until next time!

How fun to take a trip to the islands! What a fabulous make! I can almost hear the sugar birds tweeting and the steel drums playing. Wonderful creation! I missed your first contribution as Guest Designer, so I will say congratulations now, and be off for a look!
